Spring Open Day at Hambledon.

Join us for our Spring Open Day on our market garden at Rushmere Farm.

Saturday 16th May | Open 10am - 2pm | Tour 11:30am

Hampshire Market Garden, Rushmere Farm,

Corner of Pit Hill Lane & Speltham Hill, Hambledon, PO7 4SG

Come and See Where Your Veg Grows

On Saturday 16th May we're opening the gates at our Hambledon site and welcoming you in. Whether you're already a Hampshire Market Garden customer, you've been curious about what we do, or you simply want to get outside with the family and spend a couple of hours somewhere genuinely good, this is the day for you.

Come and walk the market garden, see what's growing in May, and get a real sense of how we grow food for local families here in Hampshire.

It's not a polished visitor attraction. It's a working organic market garden, and that's exactly the point.

On The Day

Arrive any time from 10am and explore at your own pace. Members of the team will be on hand throughout the morning to chat about the farm, how we grow, and answer any questions you have, however big or small.

At 11.30am one of our growers will lead a guided tour of the market garden, walking you through the beds, talking about what's in the ground, and sharing a bit of the thinking behind how we farm.

The tour is included in your ticket and runs for around an hour.

Refreshments will be available on site for a small donation, so there's no rush to leave.

What You'll See

May is one of the most exciting times of year on the market garden. The beds are full, the season is properly underway, and there's plenty to see at every turn. From seed trays and propagation through to established beds of salads, brassicas and early summer crops, you'll leave with a real picture of how a working regenerative organic farm operates week to week.

Who Is It For?

Everyone. Families with children, long-standing veg box customers who've always wondered what goes on behind the scenes, people who are thinking about signing up and want to meet us first, and anyone in the local community who wants to spend a Saturday morning somewhere worthwhile.

Dogs welcome on a lead.

We recommend outdoor clothing and solid footwear if you have it, we will be walking across the market garden fields with uneven ground and open to the elements.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, we recommend booking online in advance. Spaces for the guided tour at 11.30am are limited and we want to make sure you don't miss out. Entry to the open day is also ticketed so booking ahead guarantees your place.

Is the tour included in the £5 ticket?

Yes. Your £5 ticket covers entry to the open day and a place on the guided market garden tour at 11.30am. There are no hidden extras.

Is it suitable for children?

Absolutely. This is a great day out for families and children of all ages are welcome. Just dress them for being outdoors and expect muddy boots. This is a working farm so it is your responsibility to keep your children with you and safe during your visit.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes, well behaved dogs on a lead are very welcome. (There are livestock on the bigger farm we are a part of and therefore leads must be used).

We'll have refreshments available on site for a small donation. Details will be confirmed closer to the day.

What if the weather is bad?

We'll be out on the farm whatever the weather, so come prepared. May in Hampshire can be glorious, but layers and a waterproof in the bag never hurt.
